Make it stick

How to use a chore chart that actually works

Let them help design it

Kids stick with a chart they chose: their Buddy, their colour, one chore they picked themselves.

Put it where it happens

On the fridge or the bedroom door, at their eye level, with a pen or stickers next to it.

Tick straight away

The tick or sticker goes on as soon as the chore is done. Waiting until bedtime loses the magic.

Agree the reward first

Decide together what a full week earns: choosing the film, pizza night, 20 minutes more screen time.

Start smaller than you think

Three or four chores they finish every day beats eight they give up on by Wednesday.

Review on Sunday

Count up together, celebrate, then change one chore for next week so it stays fresh.

Questions parents ask

Are these chore charts really free?

Yes. Make as many as you like, print them or save them as a PDF. There is no sign-up and no email address needed.

How many chores should a child have?

Three to six small daily chores is a good range for most children. Start with fewer than you think and add more once the first ones happen without reminders.

Should I use ticks or stickers?

Younger children usually love stickers. Older children are happy with a tick or a colour. The important thing is that they add it themselves, straight after finishing the chore.

What is the difference between a chore chart and a reward chart?

A chore chart shows which jobs to do each day. A reward chart counts progress towards a prize. Many families use both: chores earn a sticker, and the stickers fill the reward chart.

Is there a chore chart app?

Score Your Chores is a free chore chart app for iPhone made by the same team. Kids finish quests, grow their own Buddy and save points for rewards you choose, and you approve everything in two taps.

Want the chart to cheer back?

Score Your Chores is the same idea on your iPhone. Kids wake up their own Buddy, finish quests with a press-and-hold, and save points for rewards you choose. You approve everything in two taps. Free, no ads, no child accounts.
